### Early Life & High School

Timothy Duane Hardaway Sr. was born on **September 1, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois**. He attended **Carver High School** in Chicago, where he developed into a standout guard known for his quickness and ball-handling, skills that would later define his Hall of Fame career.

### College Career (1985–1989)

Hardaway played college basketball at the **University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP)** under coach Don Haskins. There, he refined his game and introduced the world to his lethal “UTEP Two-Step” crossover.

* Averaged **13.1 points, 5.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game** over four seasons
* **WAC Player of the Year (1989)**
